3 Ways To Keep Your Employees Happy

www.PsPrint.com

The job market today is extraordinarily competitive. Not only are there plenty of employees seeking work, but there are many different employers seeking quality staff. As a small business owner, consider it your job to be a beacon of light in the shadows of potential employers. As much as employees should seek to do their jobs well in order to keep their employment, employers need to offer incentives to keep great employees on board. This can make the difference between a great business plan strategy and a strategy which fails.

Trust Your Employees

There is always a fear as an employer of fraudulent employee claims and theft. This being said, there are many good employees who feel that they are automatically subject to being treated as untrustworthy. As an employer, do your best to give your staff the benefit of the doubt when it comes to being trusted, and treat them as respectfully as you can without turning a blind eye to warning signals. Always protect yourself by performing reference checks before hiring staff members, and you shouldn’t have to worry too much about issues at your small business.

Offer Employee Benefits

One of the premiere things that potential staff are looking for in an employer is the presence of a reliable group health insurance plan. If your company offers health coverage to your staff, even partially, it will set you apart from so many other employers in your industry. In order to keep useful employees, you need to show them that the health and wellness of their family is a priority for you as an employer. You can also offer other benefits, such as paid vacation days, a substancial discount on company products or services, and more.

Educate Your Staff

As a business owner, it’s important to you to be ahead of the game when it comes to business strategies and investments. As such, keeping your staff involved in furthering their education is almost always beneficial. Workshops, seminars, conferences and night school courses are an amazing way to keep your employees on the cutting edge of industry, as well as engaging them in staying interested in the field. Consistent challenges and learning create motivated, forward thinkers which stand to benefit your company in a big way. Consider partial funding for these programs as a long-term investment in your staff, as well as your business, and consider that this practice will be money well spent. These types of incentives are often tax deductible, so talk to your accountant to find out just what you can afford.

Writing Better Performance Reviews That Motivate Your Employees

www.PsPrint.com

Anyone who employs other people in a business setting will at some point be required to complete a performance review. There are many different performance appraisal methods, and finding the right one for your business will depend largely on what you expect from your employees. Often, performance reviews will follow an employee even after he or she has left your company, so writing them well is vital to both your business and your employees’ future.

Get the language right – Clear, concise & measurable

Regardless of the performance appraisal method you choose, there are two areas that you need to focus on. The first is how the employee is able to fulfill the requirements of the job. You will need to include performance review phrases that speak to the capabilities of the employee and how he or she is able to meet the requirements of his or her position.

Clarify their part in the bigger picture – Objectives & their dependencies

The second part of the performance appraisal is to discuss how the employee functions as part of the larger business environment. Working well with other employees, supervisors, customers, vendors, and anyone else that regularly interacts with the employee is a key component of any employees’ job.

Bringing it all together

Once you have decided on the performance appraisal method you are going to use, it is then time to compile the information into a usable format that will help you track an employee’s performance and growth.

This is where performance review phrases are very important. While you want to communicate all of the relevant information about an employee’s performance, you must keep in mind that you should be offering primarily fact, not opinion. Your HR department should define the facets of each persons role to be used for appraisals. This makes all performance reviews much more standardized and less prone to emotional factors or favoritism.

Performance review phrases should be written so that they read as positive, not negative. Negative aspects of an employees performance should be placed in between positive comments to avoid making a person feel overly criticized. Performance review phrases should also suggest how that problem could be corrected.

Settle on an appraisal method, technique or process – For ALL employees

All companies settle on an appraisal technique, whether it is the popular 360 degree appraisal method or a simple 1-to-1 appraisal. The key is that you settle on one approach across the board to ensure fairness and consistency for all employees reviews. There is nothing worse than giving some employees preferential treatment through wrongly managed reviews.

Performance appraisal methods will vary from company to company, but the performance review phrases that will be used are often similar. If you are working on your first performance reviews, feel free to read other reviews from other companies that will help you get an idea of standard performance review phrases. Your company will benefit from the time you spend creating smart, well written performance appraisals.

How Business Performance Improvement Consulting Can Help Your Firm

www.PsPrint.com

Businesses at all times seek to eliminate waste improve efficiency and bolster profit margins. In tougher economic climates business performance improvement can be a crucial step in determining whether or not any business be it large or small established or just starting up stays in business.

To this end business performance improvement remains an in-demand service across the nation providing small and large operations with business process management consultant services designed to identify wasteful unnecessary and inefficient processes procedures and problems and to turn them into money-saving or money-making opportunities for success.

Calling in Consultants

Many employees view business performance improvement consultants as the worst possible thing that could ever happen to their jobs and enjoyment of their employment but this is an unfortunate mis-perception. Shared as an opportunity to improve business results and working conditions alike employees may discover a new-found appreciation for the many working pieces that make up an efficient business and involving employees in the process should be a primary consideration when bringing in business process management consultant services.

Employee knowledge of operations can still prove invaluable to determining opportunities for success and even managers and business owners may discover risks threats and opportunities that they would have never imagined existed.

Internal know-how is one element that is often overlooked by management and consultants. While the external consultancy can introduce new concepts your own staff intuitively understand how processes and operations are currently running. Importantly, they usually know where the flaws are too. This may be an awareness of quality issues or communication bottlenecks (e.g. key individuals who don’t clear their email inbox).

The Goals You Need to Identify

Business performance improvement can help owners and managers identify loss waste and inefficiency and provide recommendations as to how to best address these concerns for the betterment of the business being examined. Many times owners will discover redundancies among their employee’s roles and duties inefficiencies within their supply chains and logistical operations and better values available in their purchases of raw materials labor marketing and managerial components.

Some key goals to target (though every firm will differ) include:

  • Production team output levels. This should also endeavor to establish performance metrics for each employee. This may be measured in terms of lines of code, customer issues resolved, sales made, etc.
  • Time management. Every office worker’s performance is impacted by external factors – emails, meetings, phone calls, etc. A consultant analyzing individuals time management should be able to highlight areas of opportunity or time management techniques (e.g. Getting Things Done) which could help.

Hiring a business improvement or process management consultant always pays for itself many times over and allows businesses to identify problems and opportunities that they may never have discovered on their own without hiring a consultant.

The Top 7 Office Games

www.PsPrint.com

There aren’t that many offices out there that will let their employees have a bit of a mess about with some office games after work hours. If you are lucky enough that your employer loves messing about from time to time then why not consider playing some of these office games?

The Office Hurdles

This one is extremely dangerous and is one that involves removing computers and pretty much all equipment from every desk in the office. It can only be done on longer desks and not really smaller, individual desks and pretty much just involves jumping over each desk as fast as possible. You only need to look at the above video to see just how dangerous (and funny) it can be.

Chair Racing

This one is a pure classic and one you simply cannot beat when it comes to office games. Although accidents can happen you will find it a lot harder to break any bones playing this game than trying out the office hurdles. It is safe to say that there is always someone that manages to fall of the chair so make sure you video it!

Jousting

Again it is fair to say that this one isn’t the safest of games to play but is certainly a lot of fun if you ever get the chance to play. All you need for this is a couple of chairs with wheels, two long wooden sticks and perhaps a shield (otherwise it is really going to hurt). All you have to do now is charge at full speed (a push from someone else helps) and you are set!

Office Tennis

This is a great game if you are in cubicles or there is a small back between you and the opposite person and is one of the safest office games you can play. You might even be able to get away with it during working hours if you are really lucky. Simply screw up a b it of paper and hit it to one another with your hands, you can’t get any easier and safer!

Shooting Hoops

This one is of course another very basic office game and it involves an office bin and paper, that’s it! All you need to do is screw up balls of paper and then aim to get them into the bin. Never going to cause any harm and is easier to pretend you are throwing something away so you are never going to be found out by the boss!

Nerf Office Fight

Some people call this the greatest office game of all time and if you have seen some of the  fantastic videos that have appeared online, you can see why! Not only can you buy the basic Nerf gun pistols but there are things such as sniper rifles and even machine guns out there. All of these are of course made of foam so there is never any danger of anyone in the office being hurt but there is always a massive mess to clear up at the end!

The Movie Blu- Tak Game

This game is fantastic simply because it can be played without too much hassle and you don’t have to stop working in order for the game to continue. Simply take a bit of blu tak and shape it into some form of prop from a film, making sure to not make it too obvious. You then have to tell the people participating what year the film is from and away you go! The person that guesses the film is the person that gets to shape the next prop.

The boss will never find out that you are playing the game because you can have quickly destroy the evidence by just screwing the tak into a normal ball!

Ryan works with office space and loves playing games in the office!

How Strong Is Your Business?

www.PsPrint.com

As a business owner, times change changing. Keeping up with changing times can be challenging for all businesses. Whether your business is old or new, it is absolutely necessary to keep up and stay strong. Some businesses make it and some businesses don’t.

What’s the difference between a business that succeeds and a business that fails?

Here are some questions to ask yourself about how strong your business is:

How much of your heart is in your business?
People sometimes confuse passion with love. For example, if you run a office supplies company, do you have to LOVE office supplies? Do office supplies have to be your “dream” career? Not necessarily. Consider looking at it this way, do you LOVE running your own business? Do you enjoy fulfilling your customer’s needs? Does your future as a successful business owner seem like a dream? You don’t have to be in love with your products or services, you can be passionate about the process. As a business owner, you need to be fueled by your business and believe in it so your customers will, too.

How strong is your brand?
Have you spent money and effort on advertising? For example, if you are a florist, do your customers see the difference between you and other florists? When they order flowers from you, are they just ordering flowers or are they ordering a “Flowers from Fiona” package? By modeling successful companies, such as, Coca-Cola, you can observe that developing a strong brand is essential to your business. Make sure your company stands out and your customers recognize the difference.

How many loyal customers do you have?
Do you have loyal customers or a ‘revolving door’ of customers? Do you have long term customers or is the majority of your business new customers? Both long term customers and new customers are essential for your business. One of the greatest strategies you can ever implement is creating new customers into long term customers. Analyze how your business retains customers and make sure your operating at your best.

How strong are your finances?
If something happened to you, could your business survive 6 months to a year? Do you have reoccurring income? If you answered no, it may be time to start thinking of creative solutions for emergencies. You can implement solutions by creating an emergency fund, having business partner, or maybe a great staff. Expect the unexpected in your business and try to plan for the good and the bad times.

What’s your outlook on the future?
How do you feel about your business’s future? Do you project growing success for your business? How do your customers view your future? When operating a small business, it is essential to have persistence. Many business owners fail because they gave up because it was too hard. Owning a small business doesn’t have to be that way. You can have a positive attitude and persistence through good and bad times.

Applying The Human Resource Information System To The Company

www.PsPrint.com

As a company manager, you must have heard a lot about HRMS software, which is also known as Human Resource Information Systems. Overall, this program is a kind of Resource Planning software which is especially focused on the human resource problem. With a big company which has a lot of employees, the Human Resource Information System program will help the manager to manage the company’s employees easier and more efficient than the normal traditional method. It will create a big database to help the managers control the human resource problems such as payment, information, salary, outcome, extra work, etc.

A good HRMS has many features that will give the company a good supervisor’s vision so that the managing will be easier than ever. Some complex problems such as tax calculation or government checks will also be dealt with Human Resource Information System software. It will also provide a good look on the financial report as well as other good information so that the manager can make the right decision to develop the company. It will also predict the upcoming situation of the company as well as other great predictions so that the company’s manager can have a glimpse on the company’s planning schedule.

It will provide a lot of information about the personnel matter as well as other reports so that the company will also have a better and efficient way to deal with the problem. With the benefit of this system, the company can cut off some employees to save the running cost.

Usually, to build up a Human Resource Information System may require some time. In fact, many companies have applied this system in order to have a more fluently flow of the workmanship.

To build up a system like that, you will need a lot of information as well as experiences. Don’t worry as there are a lot of companies offering this service at a very low fee. They will give you a full training course which will help you a lot in acquiring the information as well as other things you need to know to apply fluently to the system.

After building up, it may require some months in order to get the system to work perfectly. During this period of time, you will need to constantly check the system whether if it runs smoothly or not. In the beginning state, HRMS will be easier to fix since it has less information in the database.
